We'll appreciate it if you would give us any recommendations now that we're packing to go to your beautiful city. Beyond the obvious, is there anything we should do or avoid doing while we're there?
Please, drop us a line or two, below in the comment section.
Kind regards,
Toni and Arturo
My first recommendation is not about what to "do" but what to pack, EVERYTHING, haha, since the weather is bipolar here, you should always carry a sweater at least.
ReplyDeleteBut talking about what to avoid doing?? I would say talk about religion or politics with people, specially now after the elections, they/we tend to be very opinionated on that.
See you Monday!
Hi there!
DeleteThank you for the recommendation. I'll try to be prepared for the weather and stay away from those tough topics, but if they come up in conversation, I guess I'll have to address them. See you on Monday and have a perfect weekend. Oh, and don't forget to click on the poll.
Be careful about San Luis Potosi weather (that's the reason I always carry a big suitcase) and during the first session tell the teachers to be on time.
ReplyDeleteWhy, thank you Olivia.
ReplyDeleteThat's really great advice. I tend to travel really light, so I guess this time around I'll need to make an exception. I'll be at the campus really early on Monday to welcome those early birds who enjoy being on time.
I'll see you there,
Arturo
Hi! I'll have to suggest a light sweater too.. just in case. You should visit Costanzo candystore!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Eunice. Duly noted. I absolutely love candy.
DeleteHave a nice weekend,
Arturo
You should pack sunblock and a small umbrella.
ReplyDeleteThank you Melissa, taking notes.
DeleteEnjoy your day.
Toni
Well… I don’t know about the weather, but I can suggest you to enjoy the city.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lilia, it will be my first time in SLP; any suggestions?
DeleteHave a great weekend.
Toni
...because we learn from everything, just try to enjoy your visit...and forget intercultural issues...be yourself

ReplyDeleteThe weather here in San Luis in very changeable, for that reason I suggest you to bring a coat or a jacket, because you never know when it's going to be hot or cold...
ReplyDeleteYou definitely should have a walk downtown.... Colonial architecture is visible in many buildings and churches, they´re worth watching!
ReplyDeleteIf you come to my city (Rioverde) within the next three months, you don’t have to bring anything but a hand fan and summer clothes. People in this city always stare at strangers but don´t worry, it´s just curiosity. You can talk about religion, politics, and gender but don´t criticize others.
ReplyDeleteYou should bring a jacket and an umbrella and last but not least a laptop.. Just kidding!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your suggestion, of course the laptop is important, how could I have forgotten (unfortunately I had an accident with my laptop in Mexico City's subway).
DeleteI would recommend that if you have time you should take a tour arround the doentown area, it's beutiful and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteHope you like our city!
I meant: DOWNTOWN, jaja! I had a little spelling mistake.
DeleteWell, I will say that you need to be prepared for the instant weather changes. Mexico is very hot usually, so try to pack clothes that suit you in warm weather.
ReplyDeleteTry to be nice to everybody and I think everybody will response equally, at least they will try. Usually the food is greasy but delicious, therefore be aware of the change of food habits you will probably have here.
With time, I am sure you will get used to this country, which has so much to offer to you.
I am so happy that you are visiting San Luis Potosí. It is a beautiful city that has many things to offer. However, you must be careful with the weather, when you pack, make sure that you include clothes for all types of weather. The weather is very changeable, bring sunblock lotion and an umbrella and as crazy it may sound, also bring a sweater or a jacket.
ReplyDeleteTake a walk on the downtown area, the buildings are wonderful. I hope you enjoy your stay in the city!
San Luis Potosi is a magnificent city that offers different types of architecture, but its weather is completely bipolar, enjoy the city during your stay.
ReplyDeleteI reccomend you the food, in San Luis Potosi there are different types of food depending your likes. I suggest you to taste the Pozole in a place called "el santuario" which is next to the Calzada de Guadalupe. And about the city, well to walk around the center ville is very nice. And honestly I am agree with Ricardo, forget about streotypes and enjoy the city.
ReplyDeleteyou should visit Real de Catorce it is considered a magic town. Welcome abord !!!

ReplyDeleteDon't be a turist who stands out in a crowd and most people will not even notice you. Don't take a cab on the street, call from the hotel or wherever you are. other than that, Just enjoy the city. Go to a night club.
ReplyDeletePlease bring a sweater. Be ready for some rain.
ReplyDeletePlease bring an umbrella and proper attire for rainy weather.
ReplyDeleteA light sweater and an umbrella for these rainy days.
ReplyDeleteI´m a simple guy, a light jacket, a pair of socks and set to go.
ReplyDeleteYou should try enchiladas potosinas and tacos rojos. Delicious!! I recommend to eat at El Pozole on Terrazas street.
ReplyDeletevisit the downtown area and don´t forget to take pics about this beautiful city.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy that you are going to visit SLP! You are going to love it! You should bring a light sweater and an umbrella. Walk around downtown, take the bus tour I am really sure you are going to love it! Don't forget the most important thing take a lot of pictures!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think you should bring a light jacket, confortable shoes (I really recommend you to visit SLP´s downtown... it is beautiful), and umbrella, and confortable clothes (for the daily 5 hours course...)

ReplyDeleteIf you move around by car avoid getting in the boulevar Rio Santigo in the raining season.
ReplyDeleteAs you can see, you should always carry a light sweater and an umbrella. If you want to walk downtown, bring comfortable shoes and try the turibus; you would see the main squares and churches. You can also visit the museo de las Artes (it used to be a prison).
ReplyDeleteI rally love slp and I hope you like it too. I recommend to try the local food, and walk around downtown area and talk to the local people to get to know more about the city, hope you don't pack thing which are not necessary but a good pair of shoes and a rain coat, hope you enjoy your visit :)
